June is here, the month for Western Fest! The Stampede Rodeo performances are always exciting, but not near as exciting as this year. Local champion Tanner Aus will be here to compete after many wins throughout the year. Rodeo performances take place June 23, 24 and 25. The Western Fest Committee does a fantastic job organizing everything. You are encouraged to help support their efforts and purchase a ticket for the sweepstakes from local banks or the chamber office. Attend the rodeo, parade and street dances as they return to Sorlien Park. Get the family ready to participate in our annual community celebration!
This year the Western Fest Kick off event is adding some more fun for the kids. The Chamber and Western Fest Royalty Committee are sponsoring a bouncy house, slide and castle, which will be set up across the river in Rice Park, as part of the Kiddie Karnival from 4:30 to 7:30 PM. Tamara Isfeld will be conducting a parade puppet class at 4 PM for kids who would like to participate in the kiddie parade as a butterfly. She is also looking for children to be a "caterpillar" in the parade with a parade puppet. The kiddie parade categories are Crazy Cowboy and Open Category, which includes everything else. We'll have some fun prizes for the kids who participate in the parade. The line up will be at Veteran's Plaza with the parade down Prentice Street. Roger Hill will be announcing the queen candidates and the kiddie parade. Mr. Hill will also have along his music machine. The Granite Falls ambulance squad will be serving brats and burgers from 11AM - 8 PM. The Chamber is adding to the fun with a dunk tank from 4PM - 8PM. Root beer floats will be provided by the Rock Haven Church. Join in the fun on both sides of the river on June 22!
