May is Preservation Month and Museum Month. We are so fortunate in Granite Falls to have the Yellow Medicine County Museum, Fagen Fighter's WWII Museum and the Andrew Volstead House Museum to celebrate! Be a tourist in your own town and visit our great museums.
Fagen Fighters WWII Museum on south Highway 23 is home to a fully operational collection of WWII planes and equipment. If you're lucky, you'll catch one of the antique planes in the air!
The Yellow Medicine County Museum is opening on May 18 for the summer season and contains so much information and items spanning the entire county. Visit the log cabin and other historic buildings at their location on Highway 67 and 23. |
The Andrew J. Volstead House Museum is open by appointment or on special events. Call 320-309-0092 for tour. It is included in the Prohibition Story Walking tour guide available at the chamber office. |
Nearby, we have the Hanley Falls Machinery Museum, The Swensson Farm Museum open Sundays in the summer, Upper Sioux State Park's historic buildings and Chippewa Village in Montevideo.
